Moly_x_51, founded by Kelley Frisby (USA), is an extension of the Moleskine Exchange. This blog will follow the adventure of a group of artists around the world, in a Japanese fold Moleskine sketchbook exchange. Our current group includes the artists listed to the right, including contributors in many different countries all over the world.
Each artist will set off with a small Japanese (accordian) folded Moleskine. Creating a drawing, collage, or painting, then send on to the next artist. Each artist will draw on a couple of spreads (3-4 pages) then send it on to the next artist. When the artists book is filled, it will be returned to the owner with images created by artist around the world. Each artist has a month (give or take) to make an entry. The outcome will be a pleasant and surprising adventure, as artists are encouraged to interact and merge their art with others.
The concept:
1. The artists start with the Japanese fold Moleskine - Name, address, email address written in book.
2. Each artist gets 1 month (give or take) to make a sketchbook entry, and mail it to the next person. The order is listed to the right -- for participants in this exchange, look at the list of names under MAILING ORDER. If you ever need to update addresses, please feel free to contact your partners directly! An important part of this project is to discuss and exchange information and ideas.
3. Each artist will do 3-4 pages each round.
4. Artists are encouraged to interact with other images in the book. Please be respectful, but also don't hesitate to meld your art with earlier entries.
5. When the book is full, when one side of the unfolded book is filled, the book will be sent back to its original owner. That artist may continue by buying a new book and sending it to the next person.
6. If a person decides not to continue, she will simply keep her book when it comes back to her. She should email all of the participants to say she is not going to continue. We will decide, then, if we want to find a new person.
7. Please communicate regularly via email. Let each person know that you have received/sent the book. The goal is to have a dialogue. Any comments and questions are welcome.

Oy, no mailing order yet . . . and are we supposed to have administrative powers? *zap* Nothin' yet.
Okay, whoever owns this one (ilovetodoodle?) should probably make a post stating the theme and talking about any limitations (no gore, no PSYCHEDELIC HOOKAH ORGIES, or wahtever) and inviting us to discuss. That worked OK over on 49. Just a suggestion to get things rollin'.
Hi Shalanna, sadly I have no powers to make a post yet either. I've emailed Marty to let him know, maybe there was a small technical hiccup along the way :)
I am however gathering everyone's addresses and contact information and trying to put together an exchange order based off who's closest to whom...who knows maybe that will help with the cost of postage :) I think at this point I'm just waiting to get your address and miss-mashed :) and of course waiting to get access to the blog. You can either email me at kelley@kelleyfrisby.com or you can send me flickr mail through our exchange group, whatever's easiest for you. In the meantime I'll try to see what the problem is. Thanks for staying on top of things :)
We're having limitations? That kinda sucks.
Not that I'd assume any of us plan on doing porn or anything, but for the record, my book is open house on content.
Nothing personal, I just think that if people doesn't want certain content in their books, they should make a note of that in their own actual book rather than impose one set of limitations on everyone. Like I said, some of us welcome anything in our books, it's all art.
Good point Shalanna and good point Amy. I myself am not setting any limitation on the content put into my book other than it's gotta follow the theme of Wonderland. That being said, I think Amy brings up a good point...if there are certain things that an individual doesn't want put in their own book, maybe leave a sticky note in the beginning of your book or post a comment here and let everyone know...I say leave a sticky note in the book because, honestly by the time it gets to me, four people may have already made entries and how am I supposed to remember who wanted what, LOL. Also sticky notes are removable and you don't have to have the words "please don't draw naked people in my moly" on there for the rest of you life, LOL, okay that's my two cents...anyone else want to weigh in on this?
Everyone should have the ability to post. I have changed it so that everyone has admin powers, although I would suggest that we stick to having one or two people in charge of changing admin type stuff (sections on the right) just so things aren't continuously changing.
Also, I agree with Amy about not having limitations across the board. I, for one, am open to anything in my own moly that fits the wonderland theme.
Can't wait to see what this group does!
